    My Personal Take on Fiji

"I've been to Fiji and the hospitality is unlike anything else in the world. The moment someone says 'Bula!' to you, you understand why it's called the happiest place on Earth. The resort I stayed at — I know exactly which room category is worth the upgrade and which excursions are tourist traps vs. genuinely special."

Insider Tips You Won't Find Online

    • Consider all-inclusive packages. Island resorts are remote, and à la carte dining adds up fast. All-inclusive often saves money and simplifies everything.
    • Include a village visit — it's the soul of Fiji. Many resorts can arrange respectful, meaningful cultural experiences that aren't tourist-y.
    • The Yasawa Islands are less developed and more authentic than the Mamanuca chain. If you want that Robinson Crusoe feeling, that's where to go.
    • Bring a small gift of kava root (sevusevu) if you visit a village. Your resort can help you source it.

Honest Take: Fiji Might Not Be For You If…

Fiji is remote — getting there takes 10-12 hours from the West Coast, and inter-island travel adds more transit time. If you only have 5-6 days, the travel time might eat too much of your trip. I usually recommend at least 8-9 days to make Fiji worth it.
